Celebrating the Queen’s birthday
Blackham & neighbouring village residents are invited to join celebrations at a party to be held on Fordcombe village green on Sunday 12th June from 2.30 to 6.00 p.m. This event is being organised by the Royal British Legion to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th year and is on the day of her birthday. The party will include various events, refreshments and a display in the village hall charting each of the nine decades of her Majesty's life. The Royal British Legion are tasked with contributing memorabilia from the 1940's. Do you have anything from your village of interest for this decade that you would be prepared to lend for the afternoon? E.g. small items such as ration books, photographs, medals, toys, magazines etc. Items could be anything so as to engage people of every age with an interesting display. (Space is limited so small items are preferred, the presentation will be manned at all times to ensure items are secure). If you think you could help with items for the 1940's display or the party event then please let Jeremy Syers (Chairman, Fordcombe Branch) know as soon as possible on 740326, or alternatively Robin Reames, the Secretary on 740480.
